Lisa Michele is a licensed and board certified practitioner by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners Acupuncture Committee. She was trained at an accredited school of oriental medicine which fulfills the boards’ requirements for national and state licensure.
Lisa Michele received her first clinical degree as a registered nurse. She has worked in specialty areas including emergency medicine, orthopedics, medical/surgical care, internal medicine, and oncology. Her exceptional work ethic has been recognized by the National Oncology Society, The Holistic Nurses Association and Healing Touch International and has earned awards for outstanding service in her field. Lisa holds certification in professional research, professional coding, and advanced training in oncology. She has served in the roles of patient care, program development and consulting in the Integrative Health Program at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
In 1998, Lisa Michele underwent extensive study in Qi Gong with the focus on cancer care. She learned under the tutelage of Dr. Effie Pow Yu Chow in California and received her certification to teach granted by the National Qi Gong Association. Under the tutelage of Dr. Shan Wu, she learned Shibashi Qi Gong form. She has also studied the Johnson system, which focuses on care of the oncology patient, with mentor Dr. Martin Keane from St. Petersburg, Florida.
Lisa Michele studied acupuncture theory and practice with Dr. Ganxou Zhu, clinical director for pain and headache departments at Shanghai Hospital. She received instruction in Chinese medical herbology and pharmacology with Dr. Zhaolan Cao at East West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. While there, she earned the privilege to attend a nationally recognized program of internship at Health South Rehabilitation Center focusing on stroke recovery with Dr. Bruce Benner. She completed an additional internship in herbal research through the American Herbalist Guild at Acupuncture and Herbal Therapies with Dr. Robert Linde. She is a fellow of the Acupuncture Society of America and has been invited to speak at chapter meetings and state and national conferences.
She holds memberships to practice oriental medicine in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida and specializes in internal medicine. She uses techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine modalities: Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Nutritional education, Herb-drug consultation, as well as Western Herbal Medicine, Lifestyle modification, Healing Touch and Lymphatic drainage.
